Honoring Rabbi & Dr. Joanie Bieler
Dear Tanach learners,
With much thanks to all of you who have undertaken your learning with such zest and sincerity and those who are on the cusp of doing so, just a quick reminder to all of you that we will be conducting the siyum of all of our collective learning on Shavuot. Some of you have already sent beautiful & meaningful comments or recorded them on the google doc. We hope to receive your comments/insights/thoughts on your section of learning no later than May 19th (We promise not to be disappointed if you send it in before May 19th) Unfortunately, due to the timing of the siyum, we cannot extend that deadline. If you have learned your section but, for any reason, feel you will not be able to submit a comment, please contact me (Tamar) as soon as possible at tamarep@gmail.com
As you all know, we will be compiling a book containing your insights. We hope this book will serve as a meaningful reminder of the Bielers’ impact upon all of us. To answer some questions you may have:
What kinds of insights are we looking for? How long should they be?
Your insights could range from two sentences that summarize what you learned and what you found interesting to quoting a mefaresh/commentator whose commentary enhanced your understanding of the passage/chapter/parsha you are learning, to a brief Dvar Torah of sorts. We are open to all of your contributions (short of a dissertation). They can be in Hebrew or in English. It would be a huge bonus if what you are learning happens to remind you of something special about the Bielers and you include that connection, but by no means is that necessary. Although any length is fine, most people will likely write less than 100 words.
Where should I submit my comments?
You can submit your comments to the right of your name under “Comments” on the Google doc:
OR
feel free to submit them directly to me: (some IPADS will not allow you to alter a google doc):
Tamar Epstein – tamarep@gmail.com
Please retype your name along with your comment as you would want it to appear in the book. For example, if I signed up as The Epstein Family, I may want to have my comment appear with the entry “Jeremy and Tamar Epstein” or “Calanit, Erez and Nitzahn Epstein.”
What if I can’t come up with a comment?
Please contact Tamar at tamarep@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to talk it through with you.
Wishing you all the most meaningful learning experience and with much gratitude,
Rebekah, Rabbi Ira, and Tamar
