Tisha B'Av Schedule

While Tisha B'Av this year will certainly be different than in years past, KMS is committed to facilitating the same spiritually and emotionally meaningful day that has become synonymous with this monumental commemoration for our shul. Please read below for an overview of the davening, kinot, and programming opportunities KMS will be offering this year. The fast begins Wednesday night at 8:22 pm and ends Thursday night at 8:58 pm.

MINYAN:

For those comfortable (sign up here), KMS will be holding Minyanim as follows:

Wednesday Mincha: 6:00 pm
Wednesday night Maariv (No Eicha or Kinot): 8:35 pm outside
Thursday Shacharit (No Kinot): 6:30 am outside
Thursday Shacharit (No Kinot): 8:30 am outside
Thursday Shacharit (No Kinot): 8:30 am social hall
Thursday Mincha: 2:00 pm social hall
Thursday Mincha/Maariv: 7:50 pm outside with chairs
Thursday Mincha/Maariv: 7:50 pm sanctuary

Anyone concerned about attending Minyan, either due to Coronavirus or the heat on a fast day, should stay home. Please contact Rabbi Weinberg with any questions.

Eicha and Kinot:

Wednesday night: Eicha and Kinot will take place on Zoom here beginning at 9:05 pm
Wednesday night: WTG Eicha will take place on Zoom here (different Zoom ID) beginning at 9:05 pm
Thursday morning: Kinot will take place on Zoom here from 7:30 am - 8:30 am. Kinot can also be recited on your own.
Thursday morning: Explanatory Kinot led by Rabbi Weinberg will take place on Zoom here from 9:30 am - 11:00 am.

  1. Rabbi Weinberg will continue to play segments from the Mizrachi Tisha B’Av program from 11:00 am-12:30 pm

  2. From 1:15 pm -2:15 pm those who wish can tune in on their own to hear Rabbi Jacob J. Schacter on “The Tragedy we Commemorate on Tisha B’Av is Not – Really – the Destruction of the Bet Hamikdash" Click here or join by phone at (646) 876-9923, ID # 967-163-0574.

TISHA B'AV PROGRAMMING:

  • A Youth Yerushalayim Art Project for Grades K-8 will take place via Zoom here from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm. See flyer here.

  • Youth Learn to Draw with Andrew Galitzer (creator of Parsha Comics) for Ages 6-10 AT 2:30 pm. Register at www.ANDiDREW.com/TishaBav. See flyer here.

  • Erica Brown will give a shiur entitled “Growing the Jewish Future: The Prohibition of Planting During the Nine Days” at 4:00 pm via Zoom here.

  • We will be showing the film “I Have Never Forgotten You: The Life and Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal” via Zoom here from 5:30 pm-7:15 pm. To read more about this amazing film click here.

  • We will be providing additional information about how people can access programming from YU, the OU and Mizrachi throughout the day.
